Red Cedar
Red cedar grows in the Pacific Northwest along the Pacific Coast. The heartwood of red cedar is reddish-brown to dull brown. The wood is straight grained and has uniform texture, resistant to decay and insect damage.

CUNAP not only retards fungi and insects, but the oil enhances the wearing ability by extending the life of the wood fibers. Straight from the mill copperwood is green but later changes to a golden brown.
Treated yellow pine is the standard in the industry; the CCA treatment for posts, piles, and dimensional lumber. CCA lumber is highly recommended for posts but not for rails or pickets due to excessive warpage.
